View the Current Online Course Offerings
The WebAdvisor system allows you to view the current list of online courses offered by the College of the Redwoods. To see this list:
1. Access the College of the Redwoods home page.
2. Click the WebAdvisor link located in the top menu or the WebAdvisor button located in the left button bar.
3. From the WebAdvisor home page, click the Search for Classes link.4. From the WebAdvisor search page,
- select the current semester you'd like to search (for example Spring 2011) from the Semester options box
- and select Virtual Campus/Online Classes from the Campus options box.
5. Press the Submit button.
A list of the current online course offerings will be displayed.
Working with Quicklinks
This tutorial will show you how to work with Quicklinks. Quicklinks are a feature that allows you to navigate to some sites in MyCR with a single click.
Using the Blogs Tool
What is a Blog?
A blog is an online journal, in which individuals can write entries, ordered by date, which they can share with others. Members of the site can comment on each others’ entries.
Using the Mailtool
The Mailtool in MyCR allows you to send email from your course, project, or portfolio site to anyone, whether they belong to your site or not. Using this tool, you may:
- Choose to send email to all participants in any given role or section or to individual site participants. You may also send email to people who are not site participants.
- Set defaults for your emails, such as allowing replt to send or allowing no reply, sending email in HTML or text only format, sending a copy to your own email address.
This tutorial will show you how to perform the various actions described above.
Adding a Photo and Viewing User Profiles
This quick tutorial will show you how to upload an image from your computer to your profile in MyCR so other members of sites you belong to can see what you look like.
To upload an image:
1. Click on My Workspace.
2. Select the Profile tool from the MY SETTINGS menu.
3. Click the Edit my Profile link from the Profile tool's menu bar.
4. Under the Personal Information section, select the Upload New Picture option.
5. Click the Browse button.
6. Using the file upload dialog window that appears, find the image you would like to use and click Open.
7. Click the Save button at the bottom of the Edit my Profile form.
Your profile will now appear in your profile and will be available for others to see when they access the Site Roster of sites you are a member of.
Reusing Content from Other Sites
The Import from Site feature allows you to selectively reuse material from different sites you own.
To import materials from a site, access the Site Editor tool and follow these steps:
1. If you do not see the Site Editor menu bar, click the Reset button.
2. Click Import from Site on the menu bar. MyCR displays the Import Data screen.
3. Select an import method.- If you would like the imported material to replace existing material, click I would like to replace my data.
- If you would like the imported material to merge with existing material, click I would like to merge my data.
Note: If you choose to replace, all existing material you may have created in the target site will be removed. Be careful.
Once you've selected an import method, MyCR displays a list of the other sites you own.
4. Check box(es) for the site(s) from which you wish to reuse material.- If imported data will replace existing data, you may only select material from a single site.
- If imported data will merge with existing data, you may select material from multiple sites.
5. To continue with the importing process, click Continue. MyCR displays a list of tools which contains material you can import.
6. Check the box for each tool containing material you want to reuse.
7. To proceed, click Continue.
Adding Tools to a Site
This tutorial will show you how to use the Site Editor to add new tools to your project or course site.
Working with the Rich Text Editor
This tutorial will explain the functionality of the icons and drop down menus within the Rich Text editor that is available in many of the tools in MyCR. This editor works the same way in every tool.
Navigating in MyCR
This tutorial will introduce you to some of the ways of navigating around MyCR.
Quicklinks Bar
Quicklinks to some of the project/course sites that you belong to appear along the top of MyCR.
To access any of these sites, just click on the link of the project/course site you want to enter. Doing so brings you to the home page of the project/course site.
The link for the site you are in will appear in green, all other quicklinks appear in white.
My Sites Tab
If you belong to several sites, your quicklinks bar may not be large enough to contain all of them. To see links to other sites you belong to, click on the My Sites tab.
A list of all of the project/course sites you belong to will appear. To access any of these sites, just click on its name. Doing so brings you to the site's home page.
The site you have selected will appear in the Quicklinks bar in green.
Changing your Quicklinks
To change the order of the sites in your Quicklinks bar, just click the Edit link.
This will take you to the Preferences tool (a My Workspace tool).
The names of all of your active sites are displayed in the box on the left.
To change order of the names, highlight a name, and click the up or down arrow.
When you've arranged the list the way you like, click Update Preferences.
Click on the Home link to reload the page and see the new quicklinks order.
My Workspace
At any time, you may return to your Workspace page by clicking on the My Workspace tab at the top of the page.
You can tell when you are in your Workspace because the My Workspace tab will appear white.
Tools Menu
Tool menus always appear along the left hand side of the page. The tools that appear will vary depending on what has been made available in your project/course site.
Click the link of the tool name and you'll open that tool.
Some commonly used tools are the Calendar, Announcements, Discussion Forums, Lessons, Assignments, and Tests & Quizzes.

Introducing Profile2, New in Sakai 2.7
Profile2 is a complete re-design and re-development of the existing Profile tool in Sakai. It gives you more of a Facebook style interface for editing your profile. In addition you have a comprehensive set of Privacy controls to allow you to choose who can see what part(s) of your Profile.
With Profile2 you can post updates (integrated with Twitter), search for people with common interests, view their profiles, view their connections, and add them as a connection.
